Nuclear Holocaust Films
- Nuclear war films and novels were a popular theme from the '50s until the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early '90s, as the Cold War aroused fears of a nuclear catastrophe. Today that fear is still alive with the terrorism and war happening all around the world. The threat of terrorism and bombs being dropped on us from other countries is a very real one, as we were reminded on September 11, 2001. Sadly, we even have "home-grown terrorism" to worry about- and people certainly do worry. Some spend their entire lives and all of their savings "protecting" themselves from a nuclear holocaust. They build "bomb shelters" and collect years worth of non-perishable foods to sustain them, in the event that we, as a country, are attacked. Some nuclear holocaust type films include:
- On the Beach
- Testament
- The Day After
- By Dawn’s Early Light
